Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1951, Bob is a self-taught artist skilled in many different media, who has been honing his craft for more than thirty years. He began exhibiting in 1975 as a participant in the American Painters in Paris exhibition at the Palais de Congres, Paris, France. In the same year, Bob created his first performance/installation entitled”Branch Prop” in Strasbourg, France.  Returning to his home state of Rhode Island in 1976, he began exhibiting temporary site-specific work in numerous regional festivals. Collaborating with other local artists and musicians, he helped create many city celebrations and festivals for the City of Providence, Rhode Island.

During the mid 1970's -80's Bob participated in a series of “Correspondence Art” exhibitions internationally. In that same period many of his works were temporary site-specific installations. Throughout the 80`s and 90's Bob produced and performed in numerous performance art pieces around the New England region. In recognition of this work, he has received many individual grants and two fellowships in New Genres category (1992 &1983) from the RI State Council on the Arts.  A guest critic for RI School of Design and has worked as adjunct faculty in Performance Art at both Rhode Island School of Design and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

As the creator and curator of the internationally recognized Convergence International Arts Festival 1988-2003, Bob has developed extensive administrative and curatorial experience.  His ability to curate interesting and sometimes risk-taking contemporary work is demonstrated by the unparalleled success of the festival. One secret to his success is that the work was always presented in a manner which made it highly accessible to the general public. In his many years within city government he effectively filled Providence's public spaces with high quality public arts programming, unrivaled by cities of similar size.

In 1998 he was the recipient of the Business Volunteers for the Arts/RI Arts Advocate Award for his dedication to arts advocacy and work in creating opportunities for individual artists. Recognized as a leader in cultural tourism, Bob received the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, Division of Tourism's highest honor "The Rhode Island Tourism Achievement Award" on behalf of his work to grow the Convergence 2000 International Arts Festival into a statewide arts celebration.  In 2003 he was selected as a Rhode Island Foundation Fellow for his work as the Director of CapitolArts Providence.

As the former Executive Director of CapitolArts Providence, a not-for-profit arts organization he produced festivals and special events in Providence, Rhode Island. CapitolArts also provided funding and technical support for a growing group of regional and international artists. Among the many events he created and/or produced were the Convergence Street Painting Festival, the Providence Jazz & Blues Festival, and the Providence Waterfront Festival.

His work has been exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally. His interest in tribal art, spiritual worship and rituals influence his most recent work.
